Pearly penile papules

Pearly penile papules

Pearly penile papules refers to the swellings in small, pearl like, strings on the penis, around the coronal ridge. Although, when noticed or when they finally appear they cause men to frantic thinking the worst of these bumps. They do resemble genital warts in their earliest, visible stage but this should only be a concern after unprotected sex. If you have had unprotected sex and feel you may be at risk be sure to see your local clinic or family doctor for proper testing and therapy.

These bumps run around the rim of the penis head in an almost organized fasion. They can appear as a single papule or one row, but some have two or three strings close together in separate rows. In most cases they cause no pain or discomfort. As seen in this picture one can see the size and color value of this skin function:

Based on recent reports the frequency of Pearly penile papules is more common in black men and uncircumcised men. The reason for this is unknown but may or may not be related to one another.

The pearly penile papules are a normal part of the skin’s anatomy. It’s completely innocent and requires no treatment. They will appear and disappear over time and reports state that they decrease in men with age.

With every man, keeping the genital area clean is important to keeping it free of skin disorders. Pearly penile papules are not a disorder but a common skin function for certain men. With this said, no therapy needs to be followed other than common penis hygiene. Do not, under any circumstance, pop, pick or try to squeeze these Pearly penile papules, this will cause scarring and infection which will make the Pearly penile papules seem small in comparison.

if you do pop them can they be contagious or cause similar lesions or blisters on your partners mouth or vagina area?

You should never pop these???!!! As I stated they are very normal for many men and most women would not even give the a second glance. Popping them, or any other evasive method to eliminating them will, no doubt, result in infection. THEY ARE NORMAL!

I can't decide whether or not what I have is pearly papules or genital warts. They are more red than the picture shown, and also they do not go around in a circle. I actually have about 3-4 "bumps" on each side leading up to the head of my penis. They aren't big at all, but they do increase in size after the skin as been irritated. Any answers?

every single site says taht it is perfectly normal and benign but have doctors ever considered the mental effects of it on the person suffering and those the person knows? i believe there should be more information about PPP that is broadcasted to the world populus

you say that popping would cause infection... i did look at a couple of medically credible websites on this issue and the cause/s of this condition is still under idnetification and they suugest that it is not a sort of std... pls correct your statements on this coz you might mislead others by your conclusions-pls refer to a meidcally credible site like e-medicine.

have a good one!

so this is no disease and cannot be sexually transmitted at all? If it is transmitted how does it affect the female.

if ever popped will the infection go away... and I am 14 is that natural?

Wow...all this time I was afraid of showing girls my penis. Because I thought I had a STD. I've had them for 2 and 1/2 years now. I'm 18 and I've only just now found out what they are, and I had not heard of them until now. I agree with anonymous down there that they should be put into world wide education.

Huge advancement in this disorder. My users are finding that applying a smokers, whitening toothpaste and allowing to dry will get rid of this problem for good after 5-10 applications.

YOU KNOW, This is great information, I have PPP, one of my ex-girlfriends question me it once and she even took me to the dr. before having any kind of sexual activity the doctor told me it was normal, but I didn't know what it was called, she did not give me a lot info. After several years, another girl asked me about it and I told her it was normal but it made me think and that's how I started doing the research, I found out what it's called, I know that it common, that it is harmless and that it is not an STD. The papules are not like pimples, the don't itch or hurt, if you scratch them or try to remove them, the only thing that will happened is BLEEDING, just like if scratching another part of the body.

i have this, and its not that bad. if you DONT pick at them, over time they do 'die down'. i think more reasearch should go into this cause a) im not black and b) im circumsized.

hi, thanks this is actually great to hear this is normal.

Grand.
So if I want to show my penis to a member of the opposite sex should I link them to this page? I doubt they would believe me if I calmly explained it was a normal, benign thing.
Might kill the mood somewhat.
Cheers guys.... why couldn't it be cancer?

Although they're not completely uncommon, I wouldn't consider them to be normal either. I noticed mine around the age of 20 or 21 and now at 36 they haven't gone away. In fact, they've increased just slightly. There is one papule that is kind of longer (about 2mm) than the rest, which are mostly small and unoticable if not looked at too closely. I've consider taking fine scissors and cutting it off but I've always been considered that it would grow back to three times its size and look like a damn cauliflower growing off the head of my penis! lol .. yea, funny thought huh but scary too. What I want to know is why, if it is so common and/or ordinary, it isn't better educated. I am always in great fear about what a girls opinion will be when they see them. It's horrible!
