PROSTATE PROBLEMS

About 50 percent of all men will experience a case of prostatitis in their lifetimes. And most of them will be in their 20s or 30s when they get it. Prostatitis is the medical term for prostate inflammation, a usually non-bacterial condition that afflicts men with a crotch ache or a feeling of discomfort in the groin area. Other symptoms of prostate inflammation are a burning sensation during urination, a frequent desire to urinate (especially at night), painful ejaculation, and sexual dysfunction.

The cause of prostatitis is not known, but suggested causes include prolonged sitting and alcohol and coffee drinking. A diet that is high in sugar and saturated fat may also be a possible cause of prostate inflammation. Because the cause of the condition is still unknown, there is no definitive means of treating it, although most doctors prescribe antibiotics, which do seem to get it to clear up even if the cause is not bacterial infection. Other remedies include taking a warm-water sitz bath, which is good for alleviating symptoms but is unlikely to be a cure by itself.

Young men should take good care of their prostates to prevent their being a victim of prostatitis. The best way to do this may be through the diet. Men should consume large amounts of lycopene, a natural antioxidant compound that is responsible for the red color of tomatoes. To increase lycopene intake, men can consume more tomatoes and products containing them, such as ketchup, and tomato sauce, paste, juice, and soup. They can also consume fruits rich in lycopene, such as watermelon, pink grapefruit, and guavas.

Another way to approve the health of the prostate is through regular prostate milking. This refers to giving a massage to the prostate in order to cause it to ejaculate seminal fluid. Someone must put on a lubricated glove, insert their fingers into your rectal area, find the prostate, and gently stroke it along its sides. This will usually cause the prostate to initiate semen ejaculation and male orgasm, though it does not happen every time. Prostate milking is more effectively performed by a partner or a medical professional, as it is a difficult and awkward procedure to accomplish on your own. It is not recommended for those who already have prostatitis or prostate disease, as the massage could exacerbate the pain or spread the disease to other areas of the body.
