I have an LA brass pump with a Dr Kaplain tube... Both are high quality... I would go with a vacutec or Kaplain tube and a good pump with guage...

Personally I believe that just because its expensive, it doesn't mean that there is a cheaper equal. Go to your automotive store and buy yourself a mityvac with a gauge. Its basically a brake bleeder/vacuum tester. Then go to your local pet storesand get one of those aquarium gravel cleaners as a cylynder. They come in different sizes so pic whats best for you. Seal up the gravel cleaner with silicon or whatever attach the pump and voila, a homemade pump. :D
