Man , where do i start. I have been having some messed up sleep for about 7 or 8 years. I know thats pretty bad, I never wanted to take pills or anything to get me to sleep because i had no idea what it could do to me as in side effects so stupid enough i didnt check it out. Well all i know is , is that i been trying my best to get to sleep actually at night instead of going days without sleeping or sleeping in small pieces like, maybe hourly or just here and there type of sleep and getting up and staying up the whole day. I do music and im currently going back to school and am very involved with a long distant relationship which makes me happy. But damn, im so tired!! I feel like i could sleep a straight year. I had a face injury and made one my cheeks puffier then the other and makes my eye look a little more closed/smaller then the other and i think the lack of sleep really effects it as well. All i know is , is that I want my face to go back to normal because when i have no good sleep i notice my my face is rounder and just all around puffier and i feel eternally tired. To take care of all this, would it be just that simple to get good rest and all these problems especially with my facial look be taken care of? I also heard the cucumber thing with the eyes would help and heard of some crazy thing about cold spoons applied to the face helps take down puffiness. Any ideas? suggestions? thanks!

BigManPE, at what time do you go to sleep? What is your insomnia like? Do you feel worried when trying to fall asleep, or you don't like to sleep, or are you nervous? Do you have any physical impediments like pain or anxiety when you try to sleep? The clue is to go to the root of the problem. I had anxiety and didn't sleep well for 4 years straight, last winter I went 7 days without sleeping and had an anxiety crisis, I started taking meds and found many sleeping techinques. Do you workout? How's your diet? How's your everyday life regarding social/familiar environment?

I have mild insomnia which I do control when I'm in a routine with work but when I'm out of action its insane and I survive on 3-4 hours sleep eachday.

This isnt good and in time our body and mental health declines.

I've found reading books in bed, listening to calm music, watching calm films and even going for a walk beforehand all help me.

Take pills now and again but they are habit forming and short term plus have rebound effects on you which can make it worse sometimes.

Try to also listen to Paul McKenna's sleep MP3 .. works a treat. Might be on his site, if you cant get it than download that program I link in the chatroom and setup an account and PM me with the details and when I have enough guys here we'll link up our own private BitTorrent network, encrypted and share helpful stuff such as this.
