Clamped vs non clamped ratio

I was wondering if anyone has traced the correlation between clamp expansion in girth ratio and non clamped girth. In other words, let’s say you are 6" clamped, would there be an average ratio when non clamped. 1/2",
1/4 " etc...

It always fluctuates for me. I don't think I ever got more then 3/4" tho.
