Anybody have experience with teeth whitening, either by over-the-counter products or by a dentist? Also, has anyone used Invisiline (http://www.invisiline.com/US/index.html) or other invisible braces?


I've used Crest Whitestripes in the past, and they work pretty well. I was just curious if something else might work better, especially on the professional dentist front.

As for the braces, I wore them when I was a kid, but got kind of lax with my retainer. That's why I'm curious about the invisible stuff now.

I heard the invisible is pretty good, a friend of mine had it and he said he liked them a lot. For me, I have to get surgery on my jaw because I have a receeding jaw, so sometime during the summer I will probably have those on as well, the invisible braces that is.

hmm, I used whitening toothpaste religously 3 times a day, and mine got white.

They will get very white but be careful they will get sensitive some times for a day or two after wearing a few nights in a row.

There is some shit a stripper bought cheaper off ebay than one can conventionally get for teerth whitening OTC. She claimed it worked perfectly for a girl who chain smoked and rank coffee 24/7 to get whiteness back. I'll ask about it for you.

The most powerful way to white teeth is baking soda mixed with peroxide. I like the mixture to be wet but still pasty. Brush your teeth with this everyday until the whiteness level is acquired. Don't freak out when the gums become bleached, this will go away in about 15 minutes.

Yes baking soda is good, I use it everyday!!! Do a search on baking soda, you will be amazed at what you can use it for(not just for baking or brushing your teeth)!!

I just use the Arm and Hammer extra whitening toothpaste w/ baking soda and peroxide. I use that once per day because the other times I use Biotene. I just used 2 boxes of Whitestrips and that worked well. Got 2 boxes on Ebay for about half the store price of one box.

I havent decided whether to get braces or not, but I will look into the invisibles. I have a slight problem with my front teeth that isnt too bad.

I tried this stuff and it was decent but not nearly as powerful as my home brew. Plus the homemade version is about 2¢ per use.

Thanks for the replies everyone. As far as toothpaste goes, I use Crest Multicare Whitening. It does help, but doesn't go as far as I'd like. Even after a regular cleaning, I'd prefer my teeth to be more white. I'll give the baking soda thing a try, though.

It is really not bad at all. Sort of like carbonated chalk but the results are unbelievably worth it. My teeth can be stained beyond belief from cigarettes and coffee but after only one good session using this formula they are bright white.

Cool. Just put peroxide and baking soda on the shopping list. I'll let you know how it works for me.

what is your ratio for mixing the home brew stuff? or at least a rough guess. and is there any special instructions? like brush with mixture and don't rince for 5 mins or anything?

Also I read somewhere that the first teeth whiting was done back in the late 1700's by a doc or vet. Somewhere along the line he found that taking regular peroxide and pouring it on the teeth and taking a fire hot shoe iron to the teeth while they were coated in peroxide and it created instant white. IMHO you have to be one brave son of a gun to do this but from what I read it works.

my mom used to make me do that every once in awhile when i was little. i remember it was horrible, but it probably wasnt that bad.

It is not bad at all really. It works better than anything else I have tried and it is practically free.
