What is the difference between water pump and air pump? and which one is better?

Many seem to favor water pumping nowadays. In my experience water pumping is "safer", but of course going too long or too hard can cause water retention.
But overall, water retention is usually much more prominent in air pumping! (In my experience as well, I do have several pumps.)

Of course air pumping is a bit less messier, as there's no water involved. So it can be done in front of your TV, computer etc., much easier. But then again, one could have a bucket for water and still do hydro pumping in front of the computer, TV etc..

I favor water pumping, I do my sessions in a shower cabinet. The heat doesn't escape that much, so I don't let the water run all the time. Only when I'm washing and rinsing myself.
I find it very relaxing, where as air pumping I've always felt more unease. Also with air pumping I've had far more blood blisters and water retention.

I think both ways have their time and place, but I do see myself as a water pumping guy.

Water pump all the way. It's the winning team.

Water is so much better than air on many levels but the place you will notice the biggest differences is in fluid retention and blisters. Air pumping comes with these draw backs while the BathMate does not. And when the BathMate is used in the 5x5x3 SRT Method the gains are insane!

I've always taken your advice and that's the reason why I rarely encounter problem while doing PE.

I am late to this thread but for the love of God WATER pump is so much better. I've gone through the internet and read a couple books on stretching and deforming connective tissue (penis is considered connective tissue) and there are several things about a water pump that enable you to travel light years ahead of an air pump. Keep the connective tissue warm while stretching enables you to achieve a stretch 4 times greater. This is temperature dependant of course. Also, the amount of pressure that water can exert on your penis is a lot greater since water is a hell of a lot more dense than air. I could go on and on scientifically about the benefits of water but I will relax ahhaha.

Egghead1 is spot-on, the difference between air/water is the density and the ability to impart much more force more evenly
