So, I had a Mityvac pump some time last year and I was using it with warm water. After few weeks, I noticed that water has entered inside the gauge and the gauge stopped working. I stopped pumping for a month and then when I tried resuming again, I noticed that there is rust on that tiny iron that is in the pump gun and it even got broken. I wasn't able to use the pump at all.

Luckily for me, DLD sent me a new pump. Now I don't know how I can pump with warm water and to avoid water from entering inside the gauge and also to avoid rust in general. I'm very concerned.

I wish I can do dry pumping but something in my head is telling me that, I won't get the desired expansion from dry pumping which I believe to be true.

Please, those who are using the Mityvac to pump with water, how are you maintaining the pump to avoid rust and to also avoid water from entering the gauge and causing rust on the gun pump tiny iron that aids the pump?

My English is very poor so pardon me.

Always dry completely and use wd40 monthly on steel. Never let any lube remain after a session

Oh I see. So this wd40 is like a rust removal. I just googled it and found it available online in my country. Thanks so much. I'm buying these first before I can start pumping. I will be applying it once every 7 days.

That will keep parts moving and rust free
