I made a mistake in 2020 by staying on a heavy protein diet. It affected my beards by turning a few grey. Please does anyone know foods or better still, supplements that I can use to reverse the hair to black.

It wasn't caused by genetics. It was caused by a high protein diet. Please I will cherish all comments.

I read on Google that I should apply coconut oil to the beards at night before going to bed.

@hugh-girth - I didn't know about this, I eat protein like a wolf. I search on google but can only find things you can do to prevent grey hair from coming.

Deficiency in vitamin B-9 has been associated with early graying.

Vitamin D deficiency can cause your hair to prematurely grey. If you need to supplement, then use vitamin D3 (at least 5000 IE/125µg) per day. The daily recommended dosage is to low. I take 250µg per day. But I have not so much sun where I live. The reason for D3 and not D2 is that D3, is more bioavailable for the body.

Deficiencies in biotin can change hair color and contribute to premature graying.
Iron deficiency can also make your hair gray.

I think stress also can prematurely gray our hair.

If you do not take a good quality multivitamin/mimeral (needs to be high quality) every day, I think you should do that. But keep in mind I'm not a doctor. But as far as I know it's really hard to balance our diet, so we get all the vitamins and nutrients in perfect quantity, without supplements.

I don't think you can go back and make your hair color un-gray.
But I'm not sure. I shall do some more research on this and get back to you.

Thanks for the contribution brother. I also found same info on Google and also, I found that if it is not genetic, you can reverse it. I will get the needed supplements and see what changes can occur after a 6 months to 12 months period.

No problem brother. How do you reverse it?

By getting some of the supplements you mentioned and also applying coconut oil to the area of the beards right before going to bed.

I was eating only protein for over 8 months and that's what caused the grey hairs. I believe if I follow the info I found on Google, I should be able to reverse it.

That sounds good.
I didn't really know about this. Thanks for letting me know. Myself I have eating over 200 g protein/day for years, due to my training. Maybe that's why I'm so much gray hair 😂.

I'm "only" 32 years old. Going to be 33 years old this year, time fly past fast.

Believe me brother, the high protein diet is the major culprit of the grey hair. Mine is not too excessive. But I really want to reverse it if I can. We will see what happens.

Buy my question is will anything reverse white hair back to black?

@DLD it may be possible if it's not due to genetics, and only due to nutritional deficiency.
You may be able to slow down the process of graying hair, or reverse it.

To late for me!

What I found is that, if it is not genetic, you can reverse it. I'm willing to experiment on this for 6 months and give feedback.
Indeed! I can't wait for the results, I would be happy if you shared the results with us.
